The first project includes two bridge inspections; the Big Canyon Bridge at the intersection of Big Canyon Road (Forest Road 8270) and Highway 82, and the Lostine River Bridge on the Lostine River Road about seven miles south of the town of Lostine. Each inspection will take approximately one hour. Access across the Big Canyon Bridge will be blocked entirely, while the traffic will be flagged around the work on the Lostine River Bridge. Both inspections are planned to be completed by the end of the day on Monday, September 10.
The second project, which also starts on September 10th, is estimated to last two weeks and is the Dark Canyon Culvert replacement on Spring Creek Road (Forest Road 21) on the La Grande District. There will be a detour route for high-clearance vehicles; however it will not be suitable for trailers or campers. Construction signs will be posted throughout the project area. Dark Canyon Culvert is located 10 miles southwest of I-84 along Spring Creek road near the 2135 junction.
