Resources: Personnel-346, Engines-18, Helicopters-3, Crews-5, Dozers-4, Water Tenders-13
Start Date: September 6, 2012
Cause: Human; under investigation
Location: East side of US 95 near Lucile, ID – Nez Perce NF and other lands
Weather: Yesterday’s wind subsided over night, and this morning dawned calm, clear and cold. Today we expect light north to northeast wind, relative humidity range of 15% to 30%, and 55 to 65 degree temperatures.
Current Status: Yesterday, fire moved slowly on the northeast corner and east side of the fire, resulting in a good understory burn, and was held in check with the assistance of helicopter bucket drops. North of Old Adams Ranger Station, fuels management was 98% complete, and some heavy equipment has been released. Along the north side, hot spots were mopped up to a depth of 100 feet. On the west side, some interior burning was evident, but the containment line remained quiet. On the south side, spot fires were mopped up in Fiddle Creek. Fire was more active in Nut Basin and West Fork of Allison Creek, but crews held the fire in place and mopped up hot spots. Felling crews finished snag removal along Slate Creek Road.
Planned Actions: Today’s plan is to patrol and mop up along the east side of Allison Creek, continuing along FR 263 to West Fork of Allison Creek, and to continue mopping up spots in North Fork of Fiddle Creek. On the north side, the containment line will be patrolled and all spot fires mopped up. In the area around and northeast of Skookumchuck Work Center, brush removal, chipping, and processing of heavy fuels will be winding down. Aircraft support will be employed wherever necessary. Suppression repair crews will restore hand lines and dozer lines to natural conditions on the west side and the south side.
