Start Date: September 6, 2012
Cause: Human; under investigation
Location: East side of US 95 near Lucile, ID – Nez Perce NF and other lands
Weather: This morning was clear, and calm with temperatures at or below freezing, depending on the location on the fire. Relative humidity of 15% to 35%, high temperature of 68 degrees in valleys and 50 degrees on ridges, and north wind at 15 mph is forecasted for today.
Current Status: In North Fork, crews kept the fire from moving out of the drainage, with the assistance of helicopter bucket drops. Patrol and mop up was the order of the day on the north side, and the west side of the fire was quiet. Sawyers continued to fell snags along FR 9300, FR 9303, and FR 2038 to make these roads safe for traffic. Crews secured and mopped up containment line on the ridge above Chair Point Lookout east toward West Fork of Allison Creek. Helicopters dropped water on hot spots along the east flank throughout the day.
Planned Actions: Most of the south side will be in patrol and monitor status today. The eastern flank will be monitored, and hot spots cooled by helicopter bucket drops where necessary. Crews will patrol and hold active fire east of Patrol Point in North Fork. Snag felling will continue along FR 9300, FR 9303, and FR 2038. On the north side, brush hauling and road maintenance continue. As containment increases, excess resources will be released.
