This meeting is a follow-up to the Feb. 20 Wildlife Annual Planning Meeting (APM) and is prompted by the drop in the number of active sage-grouse leks in the Duke’s Triangle Complex, a Wildlife Monitoring and Mitigation Matrix trigger. Monitoring data and maps will be presented and public comments sought regarding appropriate mitigation planning and implementation.
The 2011/12 Greater Sage-Grouse Monitoring Annual Report for the Pinedale Anticline Project Area (PAPA) is available online at www.wy.blm.gov/jio-papo/papo/wildlife.htm.
As directed in the 2008 PAPA Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement Record of Decision, a general APM is scheduled each year encompassing a wide range of PAPA topics. A separate Wildlife APM was established to coincide more closely with the availability of wildlife data and to allow for a deeper and more efficient discussion of wildlife issues. Additional follow-up meetings are scheduled as needed.
