A Forest Service Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) will be located at milepost 7 on Forest Road 16, starting at 4:30 p.m. today, to facilitate the escort of persons into the area. Only those persons that were evacuated and have belongings to retrieve will be allowed into the area.
Persons traveling to this checkpoint should use Highway 395 to Seneca, then turn east onto Forest Road 16 and proceed to milepost 7. For more information on the process please contact John Day Interagency Dispatch at 541-575-1321.
The Parish Cabin Fire estimated to be 5,000 acres is located 12 miles northeast of Seneca, OR, near the intersection of Forest Roads 15 and 16.
For firefighter and public safety, roads in the area will remain closed and road guards have been posted. Checkpoints will be located at the intersections of Forest Roads 15 and 1520, 1710 and 1619, and 15 and 1540 roads; as well as Forest Road 16 at Biggs Ranch, and Forest Road 16 at the east end of Logan valley. The public is advised to remain out of the area for public and firefighter safety as well as the potential for extreme fire activity.
