The RAC operates in compliance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act and is authorized under the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act which was reauthorized for one year as part of Public Law 112-141 in July. This act provides payments to counties as compensation for the loss of tax income associated with federal land within their boundaries. The purpose of the RAC is to improve collaborative relationships and provide advice and recommendations to the Forest Service concerning projects and funding.
The purpose of this meeting is to review 2013 Title II project proposals and provide Acting Forest Supervisor Amanda McAdams, the Designated Federal Official, with a list of recommended projects to be funded. A total of twenty-three Title II project proposals were submitted this year and each will be given careful consideration for funding.
