The Merino Fire was detected near Indian Springs on the Middle Fork Ranger District in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. Yesterday helicopter 405 flew over the fire to assess it.
Four heli-rappellers from the Salmon airbase continue to fight the Votler Creek Fire southwest of Gibbonsville on the North Fork Ranger District. This fire is estimated to be .5 acres. A helitanker is available to support firefighters on this fire.
The lightning caused Bear Fire, burning near Bear Creek Point in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, near the southern boundary of the Salmon-Cobalt Ranger District has been placed in monitor status.
