The Juneau Icefield, located in the Coast Mountain Range, is North American's fifth largest icefield. It covers over 1,500 square miles of land, and stretches nearly 100 miles north to south and 45 miles east and west.
The Juneau Icefield map costs $6. The folded map is available through Alaska Geographic at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center, the Juneau Ranger District front desk, and the map machine located in the lobby of the federal building in downtown Juneau. It may also be purchased on-line from the National Forest Map Store or The USGS Store. Both the Juneau Ranger District and the Mendenhall Visitor Center will be selling 18 x 24 inch flat maps (unfolded) as “posters” suitable for mounting.
The completely new Juneau Icefield map was produced by the USDA Forest Service Alaska Region. The icefield illustration was created for the USFS by Eric Knight with support from the University of Alaska Southeast and the Banff Institute.
