On Sunday, helicopter tankers dropped water on fires associated with the Mustang fire. Smoke jumpers and heli-rapellers dropped into the newly detected East Butte and 4th of July fires.
Fire behavior: Sunday the Mustang fire was backing into the Broomtail drainage, with group torching of trees.
Planned Actions: Today, point protection actions are continuing. Crews will maintain the water system with pumps and hoses at Long Tom Lookout and at the Gattin Ranch. Opportunities are being evaluated to engage the fire as it comes out of inaccessible terrain.
