According to an Environmental Assessment (EA) detailing the lease-extension proposal, grazing would continue to be managed under the current rest-rotation system during the two-year period, which would end on Sept. 15, 2014. A new management plan evaluating habitat conditions, role of livestock grazing, and management priorities for this WMA would also be developed during the extension.
The Fresno Reservoir WMA is located in western Hill County about 23 miles northwest of Havre and sits northwest of Fresno Reservoir along the western edge of the Milk River.
FWP biologists say the extension of this grazing lease for another two years under the current system would not result in any foreseeable significant impacts to the vegetation or wildlife on the WMA, nor would it have any foreseeable significant individual or cumulative impacts on the physical or human environment.
Interested parties can find more information and the entire EA in the “Public Notices” section of the FWP website at fwp.mt.gov A copy of the EA also can be obtained by contacting the FWP Havre Area Office at 405-265-6177 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
