Local Boy Scouts and other volunteers teamed-up with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Cody Field Office on a recent Saturday to clean up public land west of Burlington, Wyo.
Boy Scout Isaac Schroeder of Lovell completed the requirements for the rank of Eagle Scout from Troop 3071 by cleaning up and removing trash. Schroeder was assisted by scouts, other volunteers and the BLM.
“The project provided a great opportunity for me to positively benefit my community,” Schroeder said.
The group removed almost four tons of scrap metal, piles of barbed wire, scrap wood and other miscellaneous trash. The scrap metal was later recycled at the local landfill.
BLM Outdoor Recreation Planner Rory Glueckert was impressed by Schroeder’s demonstration of leadership and volunteerism in his community. “The project was a great example of Isaacs’s hard work ethic and dedication to his Boy Scout Troop and community,” Glueckert said. “The BLM and I applaud him for his selfless service and maturity.”
