Location: Ninemile and Seeley Lake Ranger Districts, Lolo NF
Butler Fire -- Firefighters are responding to a lightning-caused wildfire approximately ten miles northwest of Frenchtown Pond near the border of the Ninemile Ranger District and Tribal Lands of the Flathead Indian Reservation. The Butler Fire is approximately 50 acres, is not threatening structures or property and was reported to dispatch at three p.m. today by a FS fire lookout. Two helicopters, two Hot Shot crews, and District initial attack firefighters are responding. Lolo NF fire managers are coordinating closely with Tribal officials and tribal fire managers
Fire Behavior: Active burning on all sides, torching and crowning observed
Terrain and Fuels: Steep terrain, dead and downed fuel
False Point Fire –Lightning-caused fire in remote area of the Scapegoat Wilderness on the Seeley Lake Ranger District. Location is about 25 miles northeast of Clearwater Crossing. The fire is approximately 60 acres and burning actively. No structures or property threatened. Fire managers are assessing options for suppression
Fire Behavior: Active fire behavior on all sides of the fire
Terrain: Steep, remote location with difficult access.
Closures: No closures in place for either fire.
