Location: Ninemile, Missoula and Seeley Lake Ranger Districts, Lolo NF
Butler Fire – Suppression efforts have kept the fire to approximately 100 acres, though firefighters have been working to contain spot fire activity. Resources include four Hot Shot Crews, one Hot Shot module, two helicopters and tanker support as needed. An additional two helicopters have been ordered and additional three crews are en-route. A Type II Incident Management Team arrived today and will assume management of the fire. The fire is about ten miles northwest of Frenchtown Pond near the border of the Ninemile Ranger District and Tribal Lands of the Flathead Indian Reservation. It is not threatening structures or property and was reported to dispatch at three p.m. on 7/31. Lolo NF fire managers are coordinating closely with Tribal officials and Tribal fire managers. Several closures have been established for public and firefighter safety.

Falls Point Fire – This is a lightning-caused fire in a remote area of the Scapegoat Wilderness on the Seeley Lake Ranger District. The fire remains at approximately 300 acres. Structure protection is being established for the North Fork Cabin in the Blackfoot River drainage 13 miles northeast of Ovando as well as the Carmichael Cabin about five miles to the northeast of the fire. The fire is located about 25 miles northeast of Clearwater Crossing. A Type II Incident Management Team assumed management of the fire today. Closures are being established for firefighter and public safety.

South Alder Fire – A lightning-caused fire burning in heavy timber approximately ten miles east of Stevensville on the Missoula Ranger District. Fires suppression efforts have kept the fire to 30 acres. Three crews, one Hot Shot module, two engines, and two helicopters are supporting suppression efforts. Tanker support is available as needed.
Closures: Forest Road #4267 closed in its entirety from Ambrose Saddle (SW¼ Section 22, T. 9 N., R. 18 W) to its junction with Sawmill Saddle (NE1/4 Section 16, T. 8 N., R. 18 W)
