Trail Closure Updated For SnowKing Area
Fire managers are pleased to announce a limited number of tails on the west face of Snow King are now open for public use. The area and trail closures are necessary to facilitate continuing fire operations including helicopter flights and fire camps.
Open trails are:
• Snow King Mountain trial to the top of the Cougar Lift
• Sink or Swim trail from Snow King Resort to Josie’s Ridge
• KC trail
• Josie’s Ridge trial from the trailhead to 7200’ elevation
• Access trails between Snow King Resort and Josie’s Ridge including Shade Monkey, Wildlife Lane trailhead access, and Flat Creek trailhead access.
Trail users are reminded that the majority of the trails in the Snow King, Cache Creek, and Game Creek areas remain closed including the Snow King Summit trial and summit ridge. Trail closure signs are posted to distinguish areas where the public may access and use trails and areas that are closed to facilitate continuing fire operations. Paragliders are reminded that a flight restriction remains in effect over the fire area.
The Forest Service is actively working on determining when other trails in the closure area can be opened. Trail opening will occur in phases but more trails are anticipated to be opened by the weekend.
The Bridger-Teton National Forest greatly appreciates the cooperation of trail users during the Horsethief Canyon Fire. The public is asked for their continued patience and compliance with closures as the fire becomes less active.
