The closure will not impact or limit access to the cross-country ski trails on the south end of the lake. Skiers are being advised to use the 550 road to access the trails. Fisherman and others wanting access to the lake are being asked to park on the north side by the beach and picnic area. All travelers are advised to drive with extra caution near the lake as there will be machinery and log trucks on the roads during weekdays and on weekends.
The Como Campground project will send nearly 700,000 board feet of timber to Montana sawmills. The 210 acre project began last year and is scheduled to be completed by June. It is one of more than a dozen timber salvage projects undertaken by the Forest in the past year in an effort to protect popular campgrounds and recreation sites from increasing pine beetle attacks.
