Fire Update: The fires that we have been reporting on that were ignited on Tuesday of this week, one in Roar Creek and the other Northwest of Lowell are stable. The main fire continues to exhibit the fire behavior of backing down the slopes toward the Selway River. Firefighters will take the opportunity to begin perfecting the established indirect line. The line constructed in the Goddard Peak area is completed and resources have been shifted to help with line on the North in Decker or Lodge Creek. A “spike” camp is established at Johnson Bar Campground to keep firefighters closer to the fire lines.
Rain, at times heavy, fell at the ICP in Kooskia this evening. Rain amounts, if any, over the fire area will be reported in the morning.
It is expected that the majority of the main fire will continue to progress, with more intense burning in pockets of unburned fuel. An inversion is expected to remain over the fire in the morning. No structures have been lost or damaged in the Johnson bar fire.
