The first application requests $56,000 in funding from the Motorbike Recreational Account to improve signing and brushing on approximately 44 miles of trail around the Idaho City Basin. Brushing would occur on new designated trails, which are connected to the Idaho City Enduro Motorcycle event. The brushing and signing will help users identify designated trails, and upgrade the trails to Forest Service standards. The Boise Ridge Riders and Idaho State Youth Conservation Corps are partners with this effort.
The second application requests $35,000 in funding from the Recreational Trails Program to complete signing and heavy maintenance to the entire Bayhorse Trail located near Graham. The approximately 3.2 miles of trail reconstruction will open new hiking and horseback riding opportunities not currently available. It will give more hunting and camping opportunities along the North Fork Boise River. The Youth Conservation Corps, Northwest Youth Corp and local volunteers will assist with portions of the project.
The third application requests $40,700 in funding from the Motorbike Recreational Account to construct three bridges which will be used during the Idaho City Enduro Motorcycle event and throughout the year by the public in this very popular trail system area. The bridges will be 12 to 20 foot in length. Portions of the work will be provided by the Youth Conservation Corps and Northwest Youth Corp.
All projects are anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2013.
