Heather Lake Trailhead is located at the end of Forest Service Road #6701-400. The current trailhead does not have adequate parking facilities and visitors have requested additional amenities for several years. A Recreation Conservation Office grant was awarded to the Wenatchee River Ranger District and will provide funding for improved parking, a vault toilet, picnic table and improved orientation and interpretive signage.
The Heather Lake Trailhead will be relocated a ¼ mile down the road from its current location with the portion of the current road converted into a trail. Construction will begin September 10 and will continue until the latter part of October. Please note that all visitor vehicles need to be removed from the trailhead and FS Road #6701-400 by the evening of September 9th.
The Wenatchee River Ranger District regrets the temporary closure of this trailhead, but is confident that visitors will enjoy the new enhancements. For more information, contact Bob Stoehr, Resource Assistant at 509.548.2579
