Management objectives for the fire today:
- Public and firefighter safety is the highest priority.
- Limit the spread of the fire to the west into Rush Creek drainage; keep fire north of Cow Creek Road and south of the Forest boundary.
- Protect structures adjacent to the fire perimeter.
- Minimize damage to private property
Fire fighters from multiple agencies continue to improve control lines and mop up the fire. Resources include 6 engines, 14 smokejumpers, 5 helicopter rapellers, 2 bull dozers, 1 helicopter, as well as two 20 person hand crews and 1 hotshot crew.
The weather is due to get warmer and drier over the coming days with high winds and a chance of thunderstorms on Sunday. Fire resources will be working to secure the fire perimeter today in advance of this incoming weather.
