With the arrival of additional resources on Wednesday August 29th, fire personnel made excellent headway toward gaining the upper hand in containing this fire; no estimate of containment is available at press time. Additional bulldozers, engines and hand crews limited the growth of the fire; the current acreage is estimated at 20, 450 acres.
The assistance of the Jordan Rural Fire Protection Association has been greatly appreciated as they have worked alongside of agency, and contract personnel to suppress this fire. Air resources assisted ground personnel in cooling flare-ups near containment lines as engines crews worked into the interior portion of the fire to extinguish fire where it was still burning. For the public traveling on Highway 95, as you approach Jordan Valley Oregon, please slow your speed and pay attention to signing as fire personnel and vehicles are moving around the fire perimeter. The fire is still under investigation and fire investigators have not determined the cause of the fire at this point.
