The meeting will go from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is open to the public with some opportunity for public comment late in the morning.
This will be the third and final meeting of the Columbia River Fisheries Management Workgroup, created at the request of Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber to consider changes to sport and commercial fisheries on the lower Columbia River.
At this meeting, workgroup members will finalize the group’s recommendations regarding transitioning gill nets off the mainstem of the river while at the same time enhancing commercial opportunities in the off-channel areas near Astoria and developing alternative commercial gear for mainstem fishing. These recommendations will be considered by the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission at its next meeting on Dec. 7 in Portland.
Meeting materials will be posted for download on the ODFW website as they become available. Hard copies will not be available for the public at the meeting.
