Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife March 5, 2013
The Columbia River Compact agencies of Oregon and Washington met today and took the following actions:
Treaty Indian Fisheries
Winter Gillnet Commercial Fishery
*Modified the ongoing treaty Indian winter gillnet commercial season in the Bonneville Pool as follows. Modification in bold. Season: Effective 6 PM Wednesday March 6, 2013 the winter commercial gillnet fishery in the Bonneville Pool will close. Fish caught in the ongoing platform/hook and line fishery in the Bonneville and John Day pools may not be sold, but may be kept for subsistence purposes. White sturgeon between 43-54 inches fork length in John Day Pool and 38-54 inches fork length in Bonneville Pool may be retained for subsistence purposes.
* The ongoing commercial gillnet and platform/hook and line fisheries in The Dalles Pool remain open.
* Adopted the following rule change:
Effective 6 PM Wednesday March 6, 2013, Chinook salmon harvested in tribal mainstem fisheries above and below Bonneville Dam may not be sold, but may be retained for subsistence purposes.
* Staff is not recommending a hearing at this time.
