Log trucks headed to mills in Gilchrist and Prineville are expected to continue logging operations at the K9 timber sale through the winter season. Trucks will use Forest Road 22, which passes next to Walton Sno-Park, as their main haul route. Additionally, some more minor roads may also be used for hauling.
Hauling routes and work areas will all be signed on developed access points (roads or trails) leading into the area.
Hauling routes begin east of Forest Road 2230 on Forest Road 22, and continue west to County Road 123 and out to US Highway 26. Please see attached map or go to www.fs.usda.gov/main/ochoco/home
Snowmobilers are asked to follow all safety regulations, especially those that restrict the use of snowmobile travel on any plowed roads.
Forest Road 22 is very narrow and can be quite icy. There are no defined areas to turn out if you encounter oncoming traffic, so please drive cautiously.
