Kevin Hall, 59, died Saturday while working for a contractor on the Grassy Mountain fire on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands 20 miles east of Rome, Oregon. He was found unresponsive in his vehicle. BLM employees and another fire contractor administered CPR until Life Flight arrived. Life Flight personnel administered additional life support efforts before declaring Hall deceased.
The Grassy Mountain fire was caused by lightning and began on August 7th at 2:00 pm. The fire was declared contained on August 9th at 6:00 pm. Hall was assisting with fire line rehabilitation efforts.
Hall worked for Brian McKinney. Hall was acting as a lowboy driver and tender for the McKinney bulldozer, which was assigned to the Grassy Mountain fire.
BLM is convening a serious accident review team to evaluate all the details of this tragedy.
