Wind has blown smoke as far west as the I-5 corridor, and ash has been reported falling to the northwest of Mt. Adams.
The most affected areas reach from Takhlakh Lake north of the Mt. Adams Wilderness along the upper North Fork Lewis River down to the Indian Heaven/Sawtooth Berry Fields area. Visitors should be aware that changing weather conditions and wind direction can greatly affect the direction of smoke and ash fall, and may affect forest recreation activities.
Other fires are smoldering in Indian Heaven and possibly elsewhere on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest as a result of the lightning storm which moved through last weekend and sparked numerous wildfires in the region. Please plan accordingly and always think of safety first.
