Toketee – February 6, 2014 – U.S. Forest Service officials are temporarily closing the 1.4-mile Silent Creek Nordic Trail at the south end of Diamond Lake, Mondays through Fridays, while work continues on the Silent Creek Timber Sale. The trail will re-open on weekends, with the logger smoothing out the snow pack for skiing. The loggers will be in the area for up to two months.
When conditions become better for skiing with more snow on the ground, outdoor enthusiasts may want to ski the 3-mile Northern Exposure which is an easy, groomed trail. Another choice is the 3-mile Pizza Connection, an easy, groomed trail along the east side of Diamond Lake. The 10.5-mile Diamond Ski Loop around the lake is rated moderate.
