The fire is located 10 miles southeast of the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center and 10 miles northwest of Durkee Oregon. Citizens are asked to avoid the area as fire traffic is heavy with bull dozers and transports, water tenders and engines traveling on the roads. Through better mapping the acreage was lowered to 6070 acres burned. If all goes as planned, containment of this fire is expected late this afternoon. The fire weather watch predicted for the Baker City area has been lifted though the chance of isolated thunderstorms remains. Initial attack forces remain on a heightened state of alert.
