The dam crest and shoreline rock work is needed to meet the State Engineer’s Office Requirements for Dam Safety. The work will include reshaping the dam top, shoreline slope on the dam and removal of some vegetation on the dam, with all disturbed soils being reseeded to provide benefit to local wildlife. The rock work will also include the construction of several rock platforms on the shoreline to improve fishing access along the dam.
Portions of the dam will be closed to public vehicular access during weekdays (Monday through Friday) during the construction project. There will be no construction work activity on Saturdays and Sundays in order to provide public fishing access to most of the dam. The work is expected to begin March 10 and continue through May 15.
The WGFD requests the public be cautious and comply with any temporary road closure signs and barricades during the construction work. These road closures are for public safety and will also assist the contractor in completing the work by the deadline.
