Throughout the incident, the Management Team for the fire, together with multiple agencies and the Idaho County Sheriff has continually evaluated the situation in light of public safety. Conditions have changed significantly and effective this morning at 6:00 a.m. MDT, the Sheriff’s Department has lifted the closure for the Salmon River Road.
In addition, effective at 6:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19, all emergency area closures on BLM lands and Payette National Forest Lands due to the Tepee Springs Fire will be lifted. This includes access to the Hard/Hazard Creek Road from highway 95; all BLM parcels north of the Smokey Boulder Road; and BLM parcels east of Riggins, Idaho, south of the Salmon River.
Several closures remain in effect due to the fire. On the Payette National Forest, the French Creek Road (FS 246) will remain closed between the Salmon River and Willow Creek Road (FS 329). Additionally, the Lake Creek Road (FS 104) will remain closed due to fire vehicle traffic.
The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest has issued an area closure order for lands north of the Salmon River Road. The Grangeville-Salmon River Road (FS Road 221) remains closed south of the Slate Creek junction to the Salmon River, including Spring Bar Campground. These closures will be lifted when conditions allow.
