Today’s Fire Operations: Crews will continue chipping debris from along nearly 30 miles of Bear Camp Road. “As we prepared to burnout, trees were limbed to eye level and brush was cut along the road. It was piled in the ditches,” said Josh O’Conner, Division Supervisor. “If the brush isn’t removed, it can clog culverts which could erode Bear Camp Road.” Safety is the biggest concern during the suppression repairs. “With all the equipment and crews chipping, and the potential for flying debris, we wouldn’t be able to get the work done as safely with the road open to public traffic,” stated O’Conner. The majority of the work should be completed today. Mop up and patrol will still be critical components of the workload in future days.
Rogue River Trail from Grave Creek to the Rogue River Ranch is open.
Level 1 evacuations are in effect from north of the Rogue River and south of the Marial Byway and in the Galice area. A Level 1 Evacuation is the lowest evacuation threat level and means that current or projected threats from hazards associated with the fire are severe. It is the time for preparation and precautionary measures.
