The BLM initiated formal public scoping for the EA on April 10, 2012, due to unauthorized off-highway vehicle use, nuisance discharge of firearms and damage from litter to public lands and resources in the 640 acre Rogers Canyon area located approximately eight miles northwest of Laramie, Wyo., in Albany County. The EA will incorporate motorized and non-motorized recreational access to the planning area while protecting sensitive resources.
Additional EA information, including a map of existing routes, may be found at www.blm.gov/wy/st/en/info/NEPA/documents/rfo/rogers_canyon.html.
Additional information on BLM travel management planning may be found at www.blm.gov/wo/st/en/prog/Recreation/recreation_national/travel_management.html.
The BLM will consider public comments in formulating EA alternatives for specific route designations and authorized uses. Comments on travel management are most useful when they address specific routes, cite additional relevant issues, and/or determine the extent of those issues. To be considered in this EA, written substantive comments must be received by July 31 and may be emailed toBLM_WY_Rogers_Canyon@blm.gov with “Rogers Canyon Travel Comment” in the subject line; faxed to 307-328-4373; or mailed or delivered to the BLM Rawlins Field Office, Attn: Amanda Jones, P.O. Box 2407, 1300 N. Third St., Rawlins WY 82301.
