Forest Road 255 is closed at the Middle Fork Boise River crossing, at the intersection with Forest Road 268 to approximately one-quarter mile south of the crossing at a landing along Forest Road 255. This is the only road segment closed.
Surrounding areas are accessible via the Phifer Creek Road (Forest Road 156), the Trinity Creek Road (Forest Road 172), and the Trinity Ridge Road (Forest Road 129). Hauling trailers is discouraged on these alternate routes. Also, anticipate delays and truck traffic on the Phifer Creek Road as roadside hazard trees are being felled and hauled.
A routine inspection on August 13 of the Roaring River Bridge (Forest Road 255) that spans the Middle Fork Boise River revealed significant scour around and beneath the upstream side of the northern pier. The cause of the scour is not certain but may be attributed to localized increased water flows and debris from sub-watersheds burned in recent fires, particularly the Trinity Ridge Fire of 2012.
The contractor is Kesler Construction based in Donnelly, Idaho.
