Construction planned is to replace two culverts along the road within the Payette National Forest, and complete asphalt repairs on a road section within the Boise National Forest.
The road will be closed from approximately 2.5 miles north of the South Fork Salmon River junction with the Warm Lake Highway to the Poverty Flat campground at mile post 13.5. Poverty Flat campground will remain open. Pedestrian or bicycling use will not be allowed at the immediate project sites. To get around those areas people will need to walk through the woods.
“With a nearly 14 foot deep culvert to repair, and the road being a single lane with limited turnouts, there is no choice but to close the road temporarily,” said Jeff Alexander, Boise NF Forest Engineer. “The goal is to get the work completed with minimal impacts to the fire season, and the beginning of the main hunting season.”
Dates are tentative and will be based on fire activity. The following week would be the alternative, which would be publicly announced if necessary.
Alternate routes to the general area are the Johnson Creek Road and the Lick Creek Road.
