The fee increase was approved with a goal to improve campground facilities and balance increased costs. Fees have been increased as follows:
- An additional $1 to $3 per night depending on the campground
- Cabins have increased from $50 to $60 per night
- Group sites have increased an additional $10 to $30 per night
The Ranger District and Scenic Canyons developed a three year maintenance improvement plan which includes in-part painting facilities, resetting fire rings, purchasing new tables and fire rings, and servicing walk ways.
The campgrounds with an increased fee include Antelope, Sage Hen Dam Picnic Area, Eastside, Hollywood, Sage Hen Creek, Boiling Springs, Tie Creek, Rattlesnake, Hot Springs, and the cabins include Boiling Springs and Deadwood Lookout.
Campgrounds and cabins open generally in late May for the summer season, depending on remaining snow levels or impassable roads.
