This project will be begin in early July and will continue until November depending on weather conditions. During this time, this section of the trail will be closed to stock for public safety and protection of the natural resources. Although crews anticipate keeping the trail open to hikers, there may be occasions where segments of the trail will be temporarily closed to all users for safety and protection of the natural resources. These repairs will help in maintain access into the rugged and scenic Salmo-Priest Wilderness for current and future generations.
The Salmo Basin Trailhead, located at the end of Forest Road 2220 (Sullivan Creek Road), will be used for a staging area, material loading site and campsite for crews working on the project. Although the trailhead will remain open to the public, parking space may be limited. For more information about the project and updates on temporary trail closures, please contact the Sullivan Lake Ranger Station at (509) 446-7500.
