September 5, 2014 – Forest Service Road 2204 on the Pacific Ranger District of the Olympic National Forest will be temporarily and intermittently closed beginning September 8 through about September 19. This closure is necessary to ensure public safety during timber harvest operations on the Hum T timber sale, which is helping the forest meet objectives of the Northwest Forest Plan. The logging operations will occur in this area: Forest Service Road 2204 – between milepost 4 to 9 (see map below). FSR 2204 is the access road to the Campbell Tree Grove Campground, Pete’s Creek Trailhead (Upper and Lower), Middle West Fork Trailhead and Upper West Fork Trailhead.
The temporary road closure will be in effect from Monday through Friday only. The road will remain open on weekends.
FSR 2204 is narrow with limited turn around areas. There will not be sufficient room for safe public access once the timber purchaser positions heavy machinery and log decks along the road.
This road closure will be lifted as soon as timber harvesting is complete and the purchaser’s machinery has been removed from the area, which is scheduled to be by September 19, 2014.
