District Ranger Carol Cushing stated, “We are pleased that our contractor, Macnak Construction, was able to complete replacing the bridge two and a half weeks ahead of schedule. This allows the public to enjoy this popular stretch of the North Umpqua Trail. We appreciate the quality work the contractor did for us on this job.”
The new, 90-foot-long bridge is substantially higher than the previous bridge, allowing high stream flows and large wood to pass underneath without damaging the structure. The project was cooperatively funded by the Forest Service Trails Capital Improvement Project and the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department Recreational Trails Program.
