Summary: The Moose Meadow fire was first reported on Thursday, July 25, around 3:30 p.m. The fire is burning approximately 18 miles southwest of Philipsburg, MT in the Moose Mountain area of the Sapphire Mountain Wilderness Study Area. The fire is estimated to be 60 acres and is growing in size.
The Granite County Sheriff is currently conducting evacuations in the Moose Lake and Copper Creek areas.
With the current dry weather conditions, officials are advising people to be cautious with fire when recreating outdoors. Make sure your fire is completely out. Stay on designated roads and trails with your vehicles, and extinguish cigarettes completely.
