A complete list of public meeting times and locations, along with information about the planning process and a link to the entire DEIS, can be found on the BLM’s Greater Sage-Grouse website at: http://www.blm.gov/id/st/en/prog/nepa_register/sage-grouse_rmp_revision.html.
The public meetings are being held in conjunction with the 90-day public comment period announced by the Notice of Availability in the Federal Register for the two agencies’ release of the DEIS. The DEIS assesses the incorporation Greater Sage-Grouse conservation measures into land use plans and land management plans; it contains six different management alternatives, each designed to address Greater Sage-Grouse conservation within the Idaho and Southwestern Montana sub-region. The Notice of Availability was published in the Federal Register on November 1, 2013.
The 90-day public comment period provides the public an opportunity to comment on issues that should be addressed in the final EIS, which is expected to be released in the spring of 2014. The upcoming meetings provide the public an additional opportunity to talk to staff and resource specialists and to submit written comments on the DEIS in person.
Based on ongoing threats to the Greater Sage-Grouse and its habitat throughout the West, as well as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s 2015 deadline for making a decision whether to list the species under the Endangered Species Act, the BLM and the USFS plan to incorporate consistent objectives and conservation measures into all relevant plans by September 2014.
To ensure that comments and information are fully considered, comments must be received by close of business on January 29, 2014. Due to the restricted time schedule of this planning effort, comments will not be received after January 29, 2014. Comments may be submitted by any of the following methods:
1. Web: http://www.blm.gov/id/st/en/prog/nepa_register/sage-grouse_rmp_revision.html
2. Email: email@example.com
