The purpose of the inventory is to identify hazardous mine openings to close and reclaim. As part of this ongoing program to close hazardous openings, the BDNF proposes to close eleven mine openings this summer. The closure work this year will be located on the Pintler, Wise River, Jefferson and Butte Ranger Districts.
Adequate access routes necessary to perform the closure work exist and the Forest plans to close the openings by installing either bat-friendly structures, polyurethane foam, or backfilling with nearby materials. The Forest will keep disturbance of the surrounding area to a minimum and preserve the mining setting.
Direct any requests for additional information about the closure of these hazardous mine openings on the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest to Licette Hammer, Forest Physical Scientist, at(406) 683-3911 or email@example.com.
