The Millie Fire, totaling 10,600 acres, burned south of Bozeman last summer, mostly in the Storm Castle drainage east of US Highway 191. Treatments are proposed within the fire perimeter in T. 5 S., R. 5 E. in parts of sections 3, 9-12, 15 and 16, Gallatin County, Montana.
Contractors using mechanized equipment will be required to stay on the roads, landings, turnouts or similar disturbed areas during removal of material from within roadside treatment areas. Utilizing salvage hazard tree removal serves as a cost effective way to get this important work completed this year.
