Approximately 15-20 applicants will be selected. Their first assignment will be to attend the Women in Wildland Fire Boot Camp in March, which provides a comprehensive firefighter training and orientation. Those who successfully complete the training and pass a physical fitness test (also known as the Work Capacity Test) will be fully qualified Wildland Firefighters, meeting the National Wildfire Coordinating Group Red Card Qualification Standards.
Boot Camp will be held March 6-8 and March 13-15 in Mesa, AZ (attendance both weekends required).
The deadline for applications is Feb 13.
Although the training focuses on women in wildland fire, all interested persons are encouraged and invited to attend. No previous experience is required.
