The surplus seedling sale will begin Saturday, March 28, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Seedlings will not be available on Sunday.
The seedling sale will continue through the end of April, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The price is $30.00 for 50 seedlings. The minimum quantity that can be purchased is 50 seedlings. A bundle of 50 seedlings will easily fit into a standard grocery bag. The bareroot seedlings are six to ten inches tall.
This year limited quantities of ponderosa pine, Douglas-fir and western larch seedlings will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Each year, the Lucky Peak Nursery produces over two million one and two-year old trees and shrubs. These seedlings are used for public land reforestation activities in the intermountain west disturbed by wildfire, timber harvest, or other events. When the Nursery has produced more seedlings than its customers need, that surplus becomes available to rural landowners for conservation plantings.
The seedlings are best suited for landowners with property in rural areas. They are not intended for homeowners in urban areas to plant in their backyards. Landowners who purchase the one year old trees can expect the majority of them to grow and thrive if planted correctly. Written planting instructions and technical assistance will be available.
