The Lost Fire is less than an acre, burning in grass and timber about 30 miles southeast of Tonasket Washington. It was caused by Thursday’s lightning storm and found during a reconnaissance flight Friday afternoon. Crews are mopping up today.
It is common for lightning caused fires to take several days to show up following a storm. Washington State Department of Natural Resources and Forest Service firefighters continue to work together to respond to fires as they are reported. Another reconnaissance flight is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
