On the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests, the Lolo Pass Visitor Center is honoring the waived fees on both January 20 and President’s Day Weekend on February 15-17.
The Lolo Pass area serves as a major trail head for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. The cross country ski trails are groomed Fridayand Sunday mornings, usually from December through March, or as snow conditions allow. The Visitor Center also features a marked snowshoe trail that is a 1.5 mile loop, and has snowshoes that can be checked out for a small donation. Maps of the Lolo Pass area and surrounding snowmobile routes are available at the Visitor Center. The Powell Ranger District phone number is 208-942-3113.

The fee waiver program is in cooperation with other federal land management agencies under the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act. Fees are waived generally for day-use areas, such as picnic grounds, developed trailheads and destination visitor centers.
Federal agencies are authorized to charge standard amenity fees, commonly known as day-use fees, at recreation sites in the Northwest. Most of those fees help maintain the sites on which the fees are collected.
