The Dome Mountain Wildlife Management Area is over 4,500 acres of public land, owned by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. It was purchased in the late 1980’s in order to preserve elk winter range and provide hunting and recreational opportunity for the public. Old fencing remains in some areas since prior to public acquisition, and each year causes injuries or death to elk and other wildlife that become entangled.
