Today, approximately 100 firefighters will continue to construct fire line on the south/southwest and eastern flanks of the fire, assisted with water drops from three helicopters dipping water from the Wenatchee River. A level 1 evacuation notification remains in effect for 10 residences on Marson Road in Leavenworth. No structures are currently threatened.
Rolling debris is a concern for firefighters. Due to the steepness of the terrain, burning material has been rolling outside of the fire lines. Highway2 in Tumwater Canyon remains open. The status of the highway will be reassessed throughout the day, a decision to close the highway will depend upon the amount of debris that rolls out from the fire which might cause hazards to drivers.
If rolling debris continues to cross fire lines, burnout operations may occur adjacent to Highway 2 and on the eastern flank of the fire. This also will be reassessed throughout the day.
The fire is being managed under unified command with support from Rural County Fire District No. 3, US Forest Service, Chelan County Sheriffs, and Washington State Patrol.
