Witnesses said the two vessels were pulling into a wakeless area near Sandy Beach when one boat hit the other boat from behind. The boat hit was carrying three occupants. An adult female was transported by Mercy Air to UMC with life threatening injuries. An adult male was treated for minor injuries on scene. The other occupant and the driver of the other boat were not injured.
National Park Service rangers would like to remind boaters that it is important to give other boaters wide berth, and boat operators need stay attentive at all times.
The incident is under investigation.
