Butte Field Office Manager Scott Haight selected Alternative B, as proposed in the Iron Mask Planning Area EA. This alternative includes grazing permit renewals, range improvement projects, riparian treatments, fuels treatments, and a travel management plan for the 26,235-acre area located near Townsend.
Public scoping on the project began in December 2012 and generated 11 written comments; a preliminary EA was released in June 2014 and BLM received 12 responses.
“We appreciate all the input provided by the public, both during scoping and in reviewing the preliminary EA; we have considered and responded to all substantive public comments in completing this watershed plan and EA,” Haight said.
A copy of the EA, along with the Decision Record and Finding of No Significant Impact, can be found on BLM’s website at http://blm.gov/l1kd.
