Southwest Wyoming PLPW Regional Access Coordinator Andy Countryman says the popularity for hunting and angling on private lands continues to increase, and timely, concise information about the access program application process is key to its success.
“Last year we held formal public meetings to discuss the changes to the Bear River Divide Hunter Management Area,” Countryman said. “This year, because there are minor changes to the program, we will be holding informal open houses in four locations, so people can attend and talk to us about the access program and also view maps of access areas enrolled in the program.”
Open houses are being held in the following locations:
7-9 p.m., August 5, Mountain View, Uinta County School District 4 Board Room
7-9 p.m., August 6, Evanston, Uinta County Library
7-9 p.m., August 7, Green River, Game and Fish Office
7-9 p.m., August 13, Kemmerer, Lincoln County Library
Details on obtaining HMA permits and accessing lands available through the PLPW Access Program can be obtained by calling 307-723-2444, or by checking the Game and Fish website. Assistance to hunters regarding HMA permission slips will also be provided at any Game and Fish regional office.
A listing of ranch rules and the license types that are valid in each of the Hunter Management and Walk-in Areas is also available on the department website. Hunters should be aware that rules governing use of HMAs do vary between them.
